Our Farm Blend is a little different from our other yarns—and that’s exactly what makes it special. Instead of featuring the fleece of just one or two alpacas, this yarn brings together natural colors from many of the alpacas in our herd, blended together to create a beautiful shade that represents our farm as a whole.
There are no dyes or added colors. The finished color comes simply from combining the different natural shades of fleece grown right here on our farm. Each batch can have its own subtle variations, making Farm Blend a yarn that is uniquely ours.
And every strand has a story. Throughout the year, we provide our alpacas with quality nutrition, fresh air, exercise and daily care as they grow the fleece that will eventually become this yarn. Once a year, they are carefully sheared, and we sort and prepare their fiber before sending it to a small fiber mill, where the individual colors are blended, processed and spun into yarn.
The result is a wonderfully soft, silky and substantial bulky-weight yarn that glides through your fingers as you knit or crochet. It works up beautifully for hats, scarves, cowls, mittens and other warm, cozy projects.
Alpaca fiber is exceptionally warm without unnecessary weight and contains no lanolin, so it is considered hypoallergenic and can be a wonderful choice for many people with sensitive skin. Its softness makes it especially lovely for pieces worn close to the skin.
