This beautiful DK weight yarn comes from Lady and Teddy Bear, two of the alpacas raised and cared for right here on our farm. Their naturally colored fleeces are combined to create a beautiful yarn with subtle depth and variation—no dyes or added colors needed.

The story of this yarn begins long before shearing day. Throughout the year, Lady and Teddy Bear receive quality nutrition, fresh air, exercise and the daily care that helps them grow beautiful, healthy fleece.

Once a year, they are carefully sheared. We sort and prepare their fleece before sending it to a small fiber mill, where it is professionally cleaned, processed and spun into this lovely DK weight yarn.

The finished yarn has the wonderful qualities that make alpaca such a pleasure to work with. It’s soft and silky, with a smooth feel that glides through your fingers as you knit or crochet. DK weight is wonderfully versatile and works beautifully for scarves, cowls, hats, mittens, sweaters and other special projects.

Alpaca provides exceptional warmth without unnecessary bulk and contains no lanolin, making it considered hypoallergenic and a wonderful option for many people with sensitive skin. Its softness and beautiful drape make it especially nice for pieces you’ll want to wear right against your skin.
