Description
This yarn truly begins right here on our farm.
Cruiser and Beetle spend an entire year growing the beautiful fiber that becomes this yarn. During that time, they receive quality nutrition, plenty of fresh air and exercise, and the daily care that goes into keeping our alpacas healthy and happy.
Once a year, our alpacas are carefully sheared—much like getting their annual haircut. Their fleece is then sorted and prepared before being sent to a small fiber mill, where it is professionally processed and spun into the finished yarn you see here.
The result is something special: 100% alpaca yarn with a wonderfully soft, silky feel that seems to glide through your fingers as you work.
Alpaca fiber is prized for its warmth without unnecessary bulk and its beautiful drape. Because alpaca fiber does not contain lanolin, it is also considered hypoallergenic, making it a wonderful choice for many people with sensitive skin.
This is a yarn you’ll want to use for projects that can be enjoyed right against the skin—think scarves, cowls, hats, mittens, baby items and other pieces where softness matters.
And perhaps the best part? When you create something with this yarn, you’re not simply working with alpaca fiber. You know the alpacas who grew it.
